Pashinyan chairs discussion on effective management of water resources and systems

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired a discussion on programs aimed at the effective management of water resources and systems. During the consultation, Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee under the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, presented the main challenges facing the sector, as well as short-term and long-term solutions to address them.

The discussion covered issues related to water sector management, planning, forecasting, and infrastructure modernization. Ghalamkaryan also reported on irrigation water supply and demand management measures planned for 2026, which will include integrated interdepartmental coordination and harmonization, unified management of water flows and discharges, a review of irrigation water supply and demand methodologies, the strengthening of pumping stations and other issues.

Participants emphasized the importance of reviewing the current water system management format and introducing more effective mechanisms. Prime Minister Pashinyan stressed the need to implement institutional reforms aimed at ensuring sustainable, effective, and integrated management of water resources and systems.
