NATO highly appreciates the significant contribution made by the Armenian government to promoting peace and stability in the region, NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska said during a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
“We consider Armenia a valuable partner for NATO. We are engaged in an individually tailored partnership project with Armenia, which will enable us to support the country’s defense and security reforms, including in areas that Yerevan considers a priority,” Šekerinska said, emphasizing that the project is based on Armenia’s existing needs and demand.
She also noted that NATO highly values Armenia’s support and participation in various Alliance missions, stressing that the North Atlantic Alliance looks forward to continuing and further developing this cooperation.
“I would like to take this opportunity to note that we highly appreciate the contribution made by the Armenian government to peace and stability in the region. This was truly good news that we all needed after many years,” she said.
The NATO Deputy Secretary General also welcomed the peace agreement initialed between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, describing it as a serious step forward and a starting point for an important process. In this context, she emphasized that NATO highly values the steps taken by the Armenian government, which are genuinely aimed at the future of Armenia and the region.
Šekerinska visited Armenia on December 18. During the visit, she held meetings with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, and Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.
