President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan said that the August 8 peace deal with Azerbaijan inspires hope that a new chapter of "sustainable peace, security, and prosperity" is opening up in the South Caucasus.

He made the remarks during his speech at a forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The forum was attended by several world leaders, including Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and others.

"The Government of Armenia is firmly committed to maintaining peace in the South Caucasus," said the President of Armenia, praising the initialing of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement on August 8 in Washington, D.C.

Khachaturyan also emphasized that during the same peace summit, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan signed a joint declaration, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, which creates an opportunity for the full opening of communication routes in the region.

"The implementation of the 'Crossroads of Peace' project and its component, the 'Trump Route,' will contribute to economic growth, dialogue, and people-to-people contacts, thus strengthening trust, stability, and prosperity. This historic event inspires confidence that we are opening a new chapter of sustainable peace, security, and prosperity in the South Caucasus. Armenia looks forward to the support of its international partners on this matter," said the President of Armenia.

The Armenian President is visiting Turkmenistan to attend the forum marking the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is a connectivity project in Armenia, envisioned under the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani joint declaration signed in Washington, D.C. The project is expected to unlock strategic economic opportunities, create long-term benefits by promoting infrastructure investment, and enhance regional connectivity. TRIPP is part of the Crossroads of Peace project, and an Armenian-American joint enterprise is expected to develop the route.
