Armenia joins TIMSS 2027

The Republic of Armenia has joined the TIMSS 2027 agreement, which envisages conducting external assessments of educational outcomes in the fields of mathematics, engineering, technologies and natural sciences within the general education system, education authorities announced on Friday.

TIMSS, the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study, is a flagship study of IEA.

Armenia has participated in six TIMSS cycles, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport said in a statement.

IEA’s Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) is a digital assessment of fourth- and eighth-grade students’ mathematics and science achievement conducted every four years since 1995. For over three decades, TIMSS has been at the forefront of monitoring global trends in student achievement.

TIMSS 2027 is the study’s ninth cycle, providing policymakers and educators access to invaluable data for monitoring progress, identifying potential areas of improvement, and making informed policy decisions.

TIMSS focuses on effectively measuring educational achievement in mathematics and science at the fourth and eighth grades, and sometimes the final year of secondary school. The study is designed to capture the breadth and richness of these subjects as they are taught in the participating countries. The study collects detailed information about curriculum and curriculum implementation, together with empirical information about the contexts for schooling.
