Armenia, Iraq seek to boost tourism

Chairperson of the Tourism Committee Lusine Gevorgyan met with Mohammad Omer Salah Aldeen, Iraq’s Charge d' Affairs in Armenia.

“During the meeting, the current situation in the tourism sector, ongoing programs, and several important directions were presented and discussed,” the Tourism Committee said in a press release. “These included the procedures and timelines for signing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the fields of culture and tourism, presenting the tourism potential of Armenia and Iraq and raising awareness of marketing initiatives, establishing cooperative ties between the tourism organizations of both countries — including holding online meetings between public and private institutions and country presentations — as well as exploring opportunities for further expanding cooperation in the tourism sector,” the statement said.

The parties also emphasized the need to deepen bilateral cooperation and increase tourism exchanges.
