Based on legitimacy, we can develop our army and acquire weapons: Prime Minister

The main guarantee of Armenia's security is legitimacy, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a video posted on Facebook. He noted that only on the basis of legitimacy can Armenia develop its army, acquire the necessary armaments and expand military-technical cooperation.

To the question how the government plans to address security threats to Armenia, Pashinyan said "the answer lies in legitimacy".

“Legitimacy means pursuing policies based on our internationally recognized sovereign territory of 29,743 square kilometers,” the Prime Minister stated.

“Unlike before, we now face no restrictions on establishing and developing military-technical cooperation with any partner in the world. I mean t acquiring  weapons and ammunition as needed, which is already happening in practice,” he emphasized.

According to Pashinyan, thanks to the ideology of the Real Armenia, countries are gradually lifting restrictions on cooperation with Armenia in the field of armaments and military equipment.

The Prime Minister stressed that this policy is not aimed at war, but at peace. He explained that legitimacy should serve to ensure Armenia's security, territorial integrity and sovereignty in the long term.

“On the basis of this legitimacy, we can develop our army, acquire weapons and military equipment, and carry out reforms with international partners, that is exactly what we are doing,” Pashinyan concluded.
