The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has recorded an 18.1% increase in detected cases of illegal drug trafficking during the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan told lawmakers on Monday.
“A total of 415 kilograms and 281 grams of various types of drugs were seized and removed from circulation, which is double the amount compared to the same nine-month period last year. During the first nine months of 2024, we had seized around 205 kilograms of drugs,” Sargsyan said at a joint parliamentary committee meeting on the 2026 state budget.
The Minister noted that synthetic drugs remain a particular focus, as they cause greater harm to people’s health.
Of the seized drugs, 37 kilograms and 175 grams were synthetic.
