The European Parliament is committed to supporting the process of establishing fair and sustainable peace in the South Caucasus, Younous Omarjee, Vice-President of the European Parliament, said in remarks delivered on behalf of Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, at the 12th Ordinary Session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan.

"It is a great honor for me to speak today in this historic city of Yerevan on behalf of the President of the European Parliament,” Younous Omarjee said. “Allow me to express my deep gratitude to the National Assembly of Armenia for the warm welcome and excellent organization. Mr. Speaker, your hospitality and commitment are a testament to the great importance you attach to European dialogue and cooperation. The last time the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly was held in Yerevan was in 2015, in the same hall, and it underscored that this meeting is a reflection of the continued development of relations between Armenia and the EU. We welcome the efforts of Armenia and Azerbaijan towards the first steps toward peace. This is very important. The European Parliament is committed to supporting this delicate yet vital process to create fair and sustainable conditions for peace, which will become a source of stability and prosperity for the entire region.”
