Yerevan and Naples sign Friendship and Cooperation Agreement

An agreement on friendship and cooperation has been signed between the Armenian capital, Yerevan, and the Italian city of Naples, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced on Wednesday.

“Naples is a city that feels much closer to us Armenians than it might seem at first glance. In the historic center of the city, there is a street named San Gregorio Armeno, dedicated to Saint Gregory the Illuminator, whose relics are kept in the eponymous church. This is a beautiful symbol of the deep, centuries-old connection between our peoples,” Mayor Avinyan said in a statement on social media.

“In 2023, during discussions with my counterpart, Mayor Gaetano Manfredi of Naples, we spoke about establishing a direct flight between our cities and later continued this conversation in Yerevan. Today, I’m happy to share that this idea has become a reality. As of October, a direct flight between Yerevan and Naples has been launched, bringing our cities even closer together. With the agreement we’ve signed, we will embark on new initiatives with our partners in Naples,” Avinyan added.
