The EU monitoring mission in Armenia (EUMA) reiterated commitment to peace and stability in the region.

EUMA announced on Tuesday what it described as a “significant milestone”.

“EUMA proudly marks a significant milestone: 200 Mission Members from 25 EU Member States and Canada are working on the ground in Armenia. Every day and night, our dedicated teams patrol and monitor along the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We remain committed to peace and stability in the region,” EUMA said on X.

EUMA, a civilian mission, was launched in 2023 for a two-year term at the request of Armenia following Azeri incursions. The civilian mission observes and reports on the security situation along the Armenian side of the international border with Azerbaijan. In January 2025, the EU extended the mandate of the EUMA for another two years. It’s stated mission is to “contribute to human security in conflict-affected areas in Armenia and contribute to build confidence between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”

EUMA's second mandate will involve up to 225 personnel, according to an earlier press release by the EU.
