Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in his speech at the PACE Plenary Session in Strasbourg, expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for the support provided to Armenia ever since the country’s accession to the organization.

“Our membership in the Council of Europe gives us greater confidence when carrying out democratic reforms, because we know that if we make mistakes, there is a dear organization that will alert us and help us find the right direction on the regrettably increasingly difficult path of democracy. The Council of Europe is our home, where we receive our address as a democratic state. As a small country, we become part of a large, beautiful, and bright family, where the human being is the most important value, where the person is the goal, not the means. This family is important to us,” PM Pashinyan said.

PM Pashinyan emphasized that great importance is given in Armenia to the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights, the Venice Commission, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The Prime Minister noted that the Armenian people accept and perceive the Council of Europe and PACE as “guardians and defenders of democracy and human rights.”
