Concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra to be held in Persepolis, Iran

Within the framework of the visit of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, to the Islamic Republic of Iran, an open-air concert by the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra will be held in the historical compound of Persepolis, the Embassy of Armenia in Iran has said in a statement.

According to the source, the concert is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia. 
"This unique evening will be attended by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, as well as other high-ranking officials.

This exclusive concert is made possible through the close and effective cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Embassy of Armenia in Tehran, the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and the Governorate of Fars Province.

The soloist of the concert will be the renowned operatic tenor Liparit Avetisyan, who will perform Sayat-Nova’s My Kamancha aria from Alexander Harutyunyan’s opera Sayat-Nova, Armenia by Konstantin Petrosyan, and Robert Amirkhanyan’s Dream of My Homeland. Ruhollah Khaleghi’s patriotic song Oh Iran will also be performed. The climax of the evening will be Aram Khachaturian’s monumental Symphony No. 2.
 The concert will be conducted by Eduard Topchyan, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia," it reads.

It is mentioned that the previous visit of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra to the Islamic Republic of Iran took place 25 years ago, from February 5 to 26, 2000. During that visit, Loris Tjeknavorian’s opera Rostam and Sohrab was performed at Tehran’s Vahdat Concert Hall under the direction of the distinguished composer himself.
