Prosecutor General of Armenia, Eurojust representative discuss issues of mutual interest

Prosecutor General of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan received Erik Fågelsbo, a representative of the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust), at the Prosecutor's Office in Dilijan.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the Eurojust representative is in Armenia to participate in a two-day high-level international conference titled “Independence and Impartiality of Prosecutors in the Context of Public Prosecution of Officials Who Committed Crimes: Corruption and Money Laundering,” which will begin on July 1, 2025, in Dilijan.

It was noted that following nearly two years of negotiations between Armenia and the European Union, the Agreement on Cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and Eurojust was signed on April 5, 2024. The Working Arrangement on the implementation of the agreement was signed on September 23 of the same year. Upon completion of domestic procedures, Armenia will assign an authorized prosecutor to Eurojust.

During the meeting, reference was made to Prosecutor General Vardapetyan’s visits to Eurojust in the Kingdom of the Netherlands on March 7 and November 6, 2024.

The parties also discussed a number of other issues of mutual interest.
