There’s been no changes in the natural background radiation near the Armenian border with Iran, Armenian experts have said.
The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Scientific-Technical Center said it urgently dispatched its experts to the Syunik province bordering Iran to measure radiation levels after the Israeli strikes hit Iranian nuclear facilities on Friday.
The experts conducted dosimetry measurements in a number of towns and villages, including in Meghri, Agarak and Kajaran, the center said in a statement.
“At this moment no changes have been detected in the natural radioactive background of Armenia’s southern regions,” it said.
The agency said it is constantly monitoring the situation.
The above-ground pilot enrichment plant at Iran's Natanz nuclear site has been destroyed, U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi said on Friday.
