Vice Speaker of Parliament Hakob Arshakyan has lauded the “huge changes” in the Armenian-Indian relations.
Speaking at the APRI 2025 Finding Stability in an Unstable World forum, Arshakyan said the cooperation between the two countries has intensified in various areas, such as defense, technologies, logistics, education and tourism.
“We can become a gateway, ensuring India’s connection with Europe through Iran, Georgia and the Black Sea,” Arshakyan said. “In this context I’d like to mention the Crossroads of Peace project, which has been of great interest to our Indian partners. It could be a good platform despite the many restrictions associated with various conflicts around the world. If Crossroads of Peace were to function now, and billions of dollars were to transit through Armenian roads and railways, that would also bring prosperity and stability to our region.”
Regarding other areas, Arshakyan said India is interested in the Armenian education system.
“We already have 3 thousand students from India studying here, but this number can be higher. And this is where the capacity building is highlighted, when we are talking about cooperation with such a major country. If we speak about the potential, you know that we are building the Academic City, which can develop such capacity,” he added.
Discussions are ongoing with India about technical and logistical partnership, Arshakyan said, expressing hope for a successful outcome.
