New Uruguayan Ambassador presents credentials to Armenian President

The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay to Armenia, Silvana L. Barolin, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan.

President Khachaturyan congratulated Ambassador Barolin on her appointment, emphasizing the historically friendly relations between Armenia and Uruguay. “An atmosphere of mutual respect and trust has been formed between our countries. Armenia is interested in developing relations with Uruguay in all areas. I am confident that you will breathe new life into Armenian-Uruguayan relations. They have always been friendly and aimed at strengthening ties between our peoples. At the same time, we must look to the future and take future-oriented steps. There is potential to deepen our cooperation. I have been convinced of this myself during my visits,” the President noted.

Expressing her gratitude for the warm welcome, Ambassador Barolin stated: “I am happy to be in Armenia and am fully prepared to contribute to the further development and expansion of the already strong relations between the two countries.”

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing business ties and promoting new formats of cooperation. They discussed prospects for collaboration in the cultural, tourism, and other sectors, highlighting the need to expand sectoral initiatives and implement joint programs.

President Khachaturyan and Ambassador Barolin also underlined the significance of high-level mutual visits in strengthening bilateral partnership, noting that such exchanges help deepen mutual trust and expand the scope of cooperation.

The development of cooperation in the field of information technologies was among issues discussed at the meeting. The parties exchanged views on the possibility of establishing a branch of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in Uruguay and opening a representative office of Uruguay’s Ceibal Center in Armenia.

They also discussed cooperation on international platforms, stressing the importance of unhindered and constructive interaction in multilateral formats.

Special attention was given to the role of parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for enhancing bilateral relations.

The meeting also included discussions related to the COP-17 conference to be held in Yerevan in 2026.
