French President Emmanuel Macron said the representatives of more than 30 countries who gathered in Paris “unanimously” agreed that sanctions should not be lifted against Russia until “peace has clearly been established” in Ukraine, Politico reports.
According to the source, Thursday’s meeting was held after U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration signaled it may be ready to ease sanctions on Moscow as an incentive to get Moscow to sign onto a ceasefire deal in the Black Sea.
According to European media, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also expressed a similar view.
