The process of developing the text of the new Constitution is underway; however, there is currently no public discussion on its content, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Srbuhi Galyan told journalists.
"I reiterate the same point. We are currently working on the text of the Constitution. I cannot comment on a text that has yet to be finalized. We will present it when we are ready. The people will decide whether to accept or reject the Constitution," the minister said.
In response to journalists' questions regarding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that a constitution of regional significance is needed, Srbuhi Galyan replied: "We are talking about a Constitution that does not jeopardize relations aimed at peace, a peace treaty and peace processes."
When asked whether the new Constitution would include provisions related to Nagorno-Karabakh, the minister responded: "We are the owners of our borders, and these borders are reflected in the relevant maps."
The minister also noted that the current Constitution does not hinder the peace process but emphasized that the government believes citizens and the state should act in a way that does not jeopardize the establishment of peace.
"The issue is not just the Constitution. We must shape our behavior in a way that does not endanger the peace process. We are a government and a country committed to the final establishment of peace," the minister emphasized.
