Russia says Moscow and region hit by massive drone attack

 

Russian air defense assets shot down 337 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions at night, including 91 in the Moscow Region, TASS news agency reported citing a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry.

The attack turned out to be the largest in 2025, according to the report.

"Air defenses on duty intercepted and destroyed 337 Ukrainian drones over the past night; 91 drones over the territory of the Moscow Region, 126 drones over the territory of the Kursk Region, 38 drones over the territory of the Bryansk Region, 22 drones over the territory of the Ryazan Region, 10 drones over the territory of the Kaluga Region, 8 drones over the territory of the Lipetsk Region, 8 drones over the territory of the Oryol Region, 6 drones over the territory of the Voronezh Region, and 3 drones over the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Region," the Russian defense ministry said in the statement, according to TASS.

During the major multi-wave Ukrainian drone attack, at least one residential high-rise in the capital Moscow was damaged by falling debris, RT reported citing Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. Outside Moscow, at least one person has been killed, and multiple buildings have been damaged, RT reported citing Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyev.

Moscow's Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky international airports have announced suspension of their operations amid the drone raid.

There were no immediate comments by Ukrainian authorities on the issue. 

Overnight, Ukrainian officials reported Russian drone attacks on the capital Kyiv and several other regions, according to the BBC.
