Pashinyan meets with EU Special Representative for South Caucasus

YEREVAN, JANUARY 9, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Magdalena Grono, the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia.

According to the PM’s office, Pashinyan congratulated Ms. Grono on assuming the position and expressed hope that her activities would contribute to the further development and strengthening of Armenia-EU cooperation.

The Prime Minister noted that the government had greenlighted the draft law to launch the process of Armenia’s accession to the European Union during its regular sitting. He also recalled that in his speech to the European Parliament in the fall of 2023, he emphasized that the Republic of Armenia is ready to be as close to the European Union as the Union considers possible.

According to the source, Magdalena Grono expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized the importance of the consistent expansion of Armenia-EU cooperation, including the development of democratic institutions in Armenia and the promotion of reforms.

During the meeting, the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the active steps undertaken by the Armenian government to foster security and stability in the South Caucasus, and Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace project were also discussed.
