More than 300 Israeli strikes on Syria since fall of government: reports

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS. Israeli warplanes have reportedly conducted hundreds of airstrikes across Syria, including in the capital, Damascus, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). The organization has documented more than 310 strikes by the IDF since the fall of the Assad regime on Sunday, the BBC reported.

According to the SOHR, the strikes targeted Syrian Army military facilities, including weapon warehouses, ammunition depots, airports, naval bases, and research centers.

Israel stated that its actions aim to prevent weapons from falling "into the hands of extremists" as Syria transitions to a post-Assad era.

The SOHR reported that the attacks spanned Aleppo, Damascus, and Hama, with more than 60 strikes carried out overnight between Monday and Tuesday alone. Reports indicate that many of the targeted facilities have been completely destroyed.

The IDF denied allegations that its troops had entered Syrian territory, telling the BBC that reports of tanks near Damascus were "false."

"IDF troops are stationed within the buffer zone, as stated in the past," a spokesperson said.
