Defense Minister expects growing number of highly qualified officers in military

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan expects that a growing number of professional and highly qualified officers will join the military in the next two years.

“Bringing skilled and disciplined cadres to the military is a priority for us,” Papikyan told lawmakers at 2025 budget debates. “And a number of programs have been implemented over the course of the past two years, as a result of which a growing number of officers and cadres with higher professional qualification and educational level will start filling the ranks of our military in the coming years.”

He recalled that the government is providing free housing in Yerevan to servicemembers who joined the military since 2022-2023 and have been appointed to officer positions. In addition, the remuneration for cadets at military-educational facilities has been increased between 3 to 10 times.
