YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Over 200 companies are participating in DigiTec 2024, Armenia’s biggest tech expo.

The opening ceremony of the expo took place on October 4 in Yerevan.

The Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) President Alexander Yesayan said that DigiTec has always been the platform that promoted products of Armenian companies both domestically and internationally.

“This year we also have the chance to present the companies and innovations represented here at DigiTec to the guests who have arrived in Armenia to participate in WCIT. We have over 200 companies presenting their products, programs and solutions,” he said.

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan also attended the opening ceremony.

In his speech, he said that digital transformation is one of the most important pillars of the city’s development, and that technologies will make the city management system more effective, transparent and dynamic.

Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

He said that the country’s future will be determined by the science-based economy.

“Lately I’ve been having the chance to repeat that the future of Armenia will be determined by the country’s economy. An economy that is science-based, an economy that is based on innovations and high-tech innovative solutions, an economy where the promotion of exports branches are encouraged, an economy where the value chain of industrial processes is maximally stretched right here in our country, an economy where the logic is to export products and goods rather than raw materials, best reflected right here at the DigiTec expo,” he said.

U.S. Ambassador Kristina Kvien also delivered remarks. She said that the U.S. has actively supported Armenia’s efforts to develop the tech sector through various initiatives and partnerships, and expects to strengthen the cooperation and find new ways for further joint work.

She said that the U.S. private sector also played a significant role in the Armenian tech sector by bringing investments, exports and innovations.

Numerous private companies chose to do business in Armenia because of its active ecosystem and highly talented workforce, she said.

“We expect to strengthen our partnership and find new ways to work together in the coming years,” the Ambassador said.
