BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 3, ARMENPRESS. The European Parliament has elected the new chair and deputy chairs of the DSCA, the delegation on relations with South Caucasus countries.
Latvia’s Nils Ušakovs was elected Chair, while French MEP Nathalie Loiseau and Polish MEP Michał Szczerba were elected deputy chairs.
After the election Ušakovs told MEPs that after the numerous conflicts the region has a new geopolitical environment which has direct impact on relations with the EU. “The South Caucasus has big economic, strategic and economic potential, and it is important to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in security, rule of law and public freedoms,” he said, adding he will work for a better future for the region.
