Large quantity of weapons missing after Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, says Prime Minister Pashinyan

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that a ‘large quantity’ of weapons disappeared after the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War.

“We have a large quantity of disappeared weapons after the 44-day war, and we’ve discussed this topic several times. This issue was discussed also at the security council. I have given instructions to the internal affairs minister regarding this topic so that we revise our methodologies regarding the search for illegal weapons and ammunition, because the methodologies that we used to work with in the past don’t match the new challenges. We already have some small results with the application of new methods. We are able to discover illegal weapons and ammunition with that method,” the Prime Minister said.

He said that the quantity of legal firearms has also increased in the country and told the prosecutor-general to focus on the sector and consider possible gun control changes.
