Paris 2024: I was very close to winning medal-Andranik Karapetyan

PARIS, AUGUST 9, ARMENPRESS. Weightlifter Andranik Karapetyan, a member of the Armenian Olympic team, summarized his results at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

"From the beginning, we knew it would be very difficult; we all understood that. The coaches and I didn't get upset, and we never thought about losing or finishing 12th. We saw a chance to fight for a medal, but it didn’t work out due to some referees and also because of my own performance. However, I was very close to the medal," Karapetyan said in a conversation with journalists.

Andranik Karapetyan, a member of the Armenian Olympic team, first lift 170 kg, then did not lift 175 kg, and after lifting 177 kg, the judges did not count the approach. In the push-up exercise, Karapetyan had one successful approach and lifted 200 kg. Andranik Karapetyan is the 7th 370 kg result of the duel.

Karlos Nasar from Bulgaria became the champion of the Olympic Games in this weight category (duel 404 kg). The Bulgarian also set a world record in the push-up exercise - 224 kg.
