YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. As more and more industries worldwide started relying heavily on AI, online dating services are no exception.
AI-powered dating apps are designed to help people find more compatible partners and build a successful relationship.
One such app is iris Dating, the brainchild of Armenian tech entrepreneur and computer scientist Igor Khalatian.
iris Dating uses artificial intelligence to predict mutual attraction, greatly increasing your chances of finding a match.
The app has already 2 million active users worldwide and is now entering the Armenian market, Igor Khalatian, Ph.D., CEO and Founder of iris Dating told ARMENPRESS in an interview.
“Once I was at a coffee shop in New York City and a woman walked in the door and I felt instantly attracted to her. I started analyzing why I found her to be attractive without even knowing anything about her. But that’s how our brain works, our brain instantly sends signals telling us that the given person is attractive to us. I started thinking whether it’s possible to develop an AI model that would understand whom we like. It was a complicated task, but eventually we succeeded,” Khalatian, a former Vice President of Oracle said.
The tech entrepreneur believes that people actually have predetermined ideas of what they find attractive, a primary attraction.
iris Datingis designed to predict chemistry between two people.
When using iris Dating, you swipe through images and tell the AI-powered app whether or not you find the model attractive. It will then understand your preference and limit the offered profiles accordingly.
“For the first time in history artificial intelligence is understanding the principles of attraction,” Khalatian said.
Khalatian is famous not only for his successful tech career: back in 2002 he became the first ever Armenian citizen to climb Mount Everest.
iris Dating was initially launched in some of the largest U.S. cities – New York City, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and elsewhere. It recently entered Brazil, Argentina, India and Mexico. The app is starting to spread in Armenia as well.
Khalatian says iris Dating differs a lot from other dating apps.
It is very much focused on safety. Aside from profile verification to prevent fake accounts, iris Dating has introduced a Trust Rating incentive system, designed to avoid instances of catfishing, ghosting, and breadcrumbing, as well as to reward members for being honest and transparent about their intentions.
With 2 million active users, iris Dating has the “digital clones” of 2 million people, which allow thedata and technology to be used in developing other innovative ideas. “We are now trying to use this technology in our cosmetic intervention program called Best Look. It will help users understand which specific intervention could enhance their attractiveness. The technology can also predict what digital advertisement would be more effective,” Khalatian said.
The database of the digital clones could be used in various sectors and directions, he added.
