YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau within the framework of the 18th summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in Djerba, Tunisia, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release.
Pashinyan and Trudeau discussed various issues related to further developing the Armenian-Canadian relations. In this regard, Pashinyan and Trudeau attached importance to the Canadian government’s decision on opening an embassy in Armenia. The sides expressed certainty that the activities of the embassy in Yerevan will boost the expansion and deepening of bilateral political and economic ties.
PM Pashinyan attached importance to Canada’s continuous support for the reforms agenda aimed at developing and strengthening democracy in Armenia.
PM Trudeau expressed his administration’s readiness and willingness to contribute to the efficient implementation of institutional reforms in Armenia and development of bilateral partnership.
Issues related to expansion of Canadian investments in Armenia were also discussed.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan briefed PM Trudeau on the aftermath of the Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia and Armenia’s stance on eliminating these consequences. Ideas were exchanged around the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the processes taking place in South Caucasus, as well as various issues of mutual interest.
