Ombudsperson registers facts on violations of exercise of rights of residents of Nerkin Hand in Syunik province

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Human Rights Defender of Armenia Kristinne Grigoryan visited on October 14 Nerkin Hand community in Syunik province which is currently facing a difficult security situation as a result of the latest Azerbaijani attack on Armenia, the Ombudsperson’s Office said.

The Ombudsperson met with the locals and listened to the facts on the use of vital infrastructures and communication routes by the locals, the violations of the village residents' right to property.

Ms. Grigoryan said that the residents of the community, particularly women and children are facing a more difficult situation, as a result of the aggressive and ongoing encroachments of the Azerbaijani armed forces against Armenia’s sovereign territory, for exercising their right to property, normal living, education and other fundamental rights.

She told the locals that the results of the fact-finding mission will be presented to the international community, as well as concrete proposals will be submitted to the government aimed at solving these problems.

Human Rights Defender Kristinne Grigoryan was accompanied by Deputy Governor of Syunik Nare Ghazaryan.
