Armenian actress plays Édith Piaf on Istanbul stage
YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20, ARMENPRESS. Actress of Yerevan Municipality State Theatre of the Young Spectator Mariam Ghazanchyan presented “Marcel” (staged by Hakob Ghazanchyan) mono play in Şişli culture center, Istanbul on October 15-16.
As “Armenpress” was informed by State Theatre of the Young Spectator, the play was invited to Istanbul by Jale Karabekir, artistic director of Tiyatro Boyalı Kuş. The hall which contains 680 spectators has been packed for 2 days. The spectators warmly welcomed the young actress’ performance. The staging of H. Ghazanchyan was also highly appreciated.
Yerevan premiere of “Marcel” took place in 2011. It was shown in the framework of State Theatre of the Young Spectator‘s “Armmono” international festival. The play has participated in many international theater festivals.
“Marcel” mono play introduces the feelings of legendary French singer Édith Piaf after the death of his beloved Marcel Cerdan.
The actress utters only one word during the play – Marcel.
