Azerbaijan’s initial plan failed: Nikol Pashinyan presents the details of his visit to Artsakh

YEREVAN, APRIL 5, ARMENPRESS. National Assembly ANC faction member Nikol Pashinyan believes that the term of violation of ceasefire is not appropriate to use since Azerbaijan implements clear military operations in Artsakh. MP, who returned from Artsakh in the night of April 5, in an interview with journalists at the National Assembly stated that the initial plan of Azerbaijan has failed since they obviously tried to enter into the area of Nagorno Karabakh from north and south, and then attack the capital Stepanakert.

“In other words, they tried to enter to Karabakh from both sides, and in fact there is no doubt that, if the two enter worked, the attack from the center would be followed towards Stepanakert city, however, as our soldiers managed to stop the attempts of entry into the north and the south, in fact they already understood that their plan failed”, “Armenpress” reports, Pashinyan mentions.

According to MP the Azerbaijani side speaks about unilaterally stopping fire since their goal was not achieved and they may need a break to analyze the situation and prepare a new attack. Nikol Pashinyan believes that there is no guarantee that Azerbaijan after a week will not initiate an attack attempt, even if the Defense Army will get back the lost positions of April 1 and ceasefire will again be reached. “When you talk with the ordinary citizens of Karabakh there seems to be such an opinion that they should do everything at this stage to cause territorial losses to Azerbaijan in order to have a guarantee that the government of Aliyev will not come out of shock for at least a year”, said Nikol Pashinyan.

He also believes that Armenia should clearly state that it will not hold negotiations relating to Karabakh issue in such formats where the Karabakh side will not participate. “In other words in such negotiation table, where Karabakh issue is being discussed, and where there are no representatives from Karabakh, Armenia has nothing to say. Today I think this should be fixed forever”, the MP said.

Ha added that during these days ha has been in Stepanakert, then in Martakert, then he returned to Talish and Mataghis where intense military operations were taking place. “Artillery was used, the explosions of artillery and multiple rocket launcher, actions of drones, everything was seen, shells were exploding in the city of Martakert, UAVs operated”.

Along the entire length of the contact line of Nagorno Karabakh- Azerbaijani opposing forces, on April 1 and throughout the morning of April 2, the adversary undertook large-scale offensive military actions, during which the adversary shelled with missile-artillery units not only Armenian defense positions, but also civilian settlements.

The Azerbaijani armed forces fired MM-21 (Grad) multiple rocket launcher on April 2, at 08: 30 in the direction of Martuni (NKR), killing 12 year old Vaghinak Grigoryan and wounding two other children. 4 other civilians were wounded later. On April 3 the subversive group of Azerbaijan brutally killed 3 elderly and vandalized their corpses in Talish village.

Due to the timely and professional actions of the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army, it was possible to take the situation under control, and make the enemy suffer considerable losses.

The Defense Army undertook counteroffensive measures and dominated the strategic position in the direction of Talish, which was earlier occupied by Azerbaijani forces.

Adversary’s losses by April 4: 29 tanks, 3 battle vehicles, 1 military/engineering hardware, 2 helicopters, 6 UAVs, 1 MM-21 artillery system, more than 300 casualties. Number of wounded has yet to be clarified.

Nagorno Karabakh losses: 7 tanks, 20 casualties, 6 of whom officers and non-commissioned officers, 72 wounded, 8 of whom officers and non-commissioned officers. 4 casualties among civilians, 1 of them a child. 5 more people were killed on their way to Martakert on April 4.
