YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Iran's First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri highlights Armenia’s efforts to include the Blue Mosque of Yerevan in UNESCO Cultural Heritage list. Republic of Armenia PM Hovik Abrahamyan and Eshaq Jahangiri attended the 250th anniversary celebration of the foundation of Yerevan Blue Mosque.

“I am very happy to be in Armenia. Here I closely scrutinized and realized the historical cultural ties that existed between the people of Iran and Armenia. There is an identical Mosque also in the city of Tabriz, and the name of Yerevan Mosque is connected with the name of Tabriz Blue Mosque. This Mosque symbolizes the friendship of Armenian and Iranian peoples and the strengthening of cultural ties”, “Armenpress” reports, Eshaq Jahangiri emphasized, adding that the Yerevan Blue Mosque is the symbol of peaceful coexistence of followers of monotheistic religions in the region.

“Armenian and Iranian nations formed in one of the ancient cradles of humanity have inherited worthless cultural heritage to the world enriching the world treasury with eternal cultural values. The Blue Mosque founded 2.5 centuries ago in Yerevan is one of the best examples of cultural heritage”.

PM Abrahamyan added that the Blue Mosque is one of the unique cultural jewel of the region, which was admired by many great Armenian writers, who referred to it in their poems.
