Iranian Embassy extends support to Armenia amid flood crisis

YEREVAN, MAY 27, ARMENPRESS. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Yerevan issued a statement expressing sympathy for the victims and material damages caused by the flood that occurred on May 26.

"The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Yerevan expresses its sympathy regarding the human casualties and material damages caused by the recent floods in some cities and residential districts of Armenia. The embassy expresses its support to the government and people of the friendly Republic of Armenia, especially to the victims of the aforementioned disaster," the statement said.

On May 26, floods occurred in Lori and Tavush regions as a result of heavy rains and overflowing of Debed, Aghstev, and Tashir rivers. As a result of floods, houses, buildings and structures were flooded, roads were destroyed. Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure GnelSanosyan said that 17 bridges have collapsed, 5 of which are large bridges. It will take a long time to restore them. As a result of the floods, the number of victims has reached 4.
