BTA. Bulgarian Eighth-grader Wins Gold at Astronomy Olympiad

SOFIA, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS/BTA. Svetoslav Arabov, an eighth-grade student at the School of Mathematics in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna, won a gold medal at the International Astronomy Olympiad in China. The news was reported to journalists on Tuesday by Antoaneta Avramova-Boncheva, who teaches at the local Astronomical Observatory and works with the Institute of Astronomy at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Overall, the eight-member Bulgarian team at the Astronomy Olympiad earned one gold, one silver and six bronze medals, Avramova said. The competition consisted of three rounds: theoretical (problem solving), sky observation, and practical.
