YEREVAN, DECEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS. The blockade and gas supply cut-off of Artsakh is a clear manifestation of Azerbaijan’s genocidal policy – Artsakh’s Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan expressed hope outside the Chinese embassy in Yerevan that China can make this issue a topic of discussion at the UN Security Council and advance the importance of protecting the right to life of the people of Artsakh.

“China is one of the permanent members of the UN Security Council and has a highly important role in the world, including in advancing the agenda of maintaining peace within the framework of the UN. Taking into account also the historically friendly relations of the Armenian people with China and the fact that China can also make this issue a topic of discussion at the UNSC and advance the highly important issue of protecting the right to life of the people of Artsakh, we decided to convey our letter also to the representative of China in Armenia,” Stepanyan said.

The Artsakh ombudsman stressed that Azerbaijan is grossly violating almost all clauses of the 9 November 2020 trilateral statement.

He said that in order for Artsakh to be able to have clear international guarantees, it is necessary to launch the respective instruments of the UN.

The demonstrators addressed the Chinese government to utilize its reputation and opportunities to support the people of Artsakh and raise the issue of the disastrous situation around Artsakh in international platforms.
