Iran’s connection with Armenia must not be jeopardized – President Raisi reiterates 
inadmissibility of border changes

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi within the framework of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York City, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

PM Pashinyan spoke in detail about Azerbaijan’s large-scale aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia and its aftermath, underscoring the importance of the international community’s, including Iran’s adequate reaction in direction of condemning the Azerbaijani actions and withdrawal of Azerbaijani military units from sovereign territory of Armenia.

PM Pashinyan expressed content regarding Iran’s clear assessments and highlighted close bilateral partnership in the current situation.

President Raisi said that Iran is closely following the developments and added that all conflicts in the region must be resolved exclusively peacefully. President Raisi said that Iran’s position over territorial integrity of countries and the inadmissibility of changes of borders in the region is clear and that Iran’s connection with Armenia must not be jeopardized.

President Raisi said Iran is ready to support the establishment of peace in the region, adding that the issue of Armenia’s security is important for Iran.

PM Pashinyan and President Raisi exchanged views on further development and expansion of cooperation between Armenia and Iran in various areas. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
