Syria condemns any attack on Armenian lands – Ambassador

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. Syria condemns any attack against the Armenian lands, ARMENPRESS reports Ambassador of Syria to Armenia Mohammad Ahmad Haj Ibrahim told Al-Watan news.

As for the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Ambassador said Syria has always supported a peaceful solution.

“Syria has always supported a peaceful settlement enshrined in UN resolutions, as well as in the OSCE Minsk Group principles. During the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan at the Armenian MFA the minister stated that the Azerbaijani forces conduct encroachments on the Line of Contact, and the Armenian army carries out a self-defense. The minister also reminded that the Turkish f-16 jets and artillery assist the Azerbaijani army”, the Ambassador said.

He stated that the upcoming developments can be different, meaning the fact that Armenia is a CSTO member and in case of encroachment on Armenia’s borders, the other member states of the organization – Russia, Belarus, etc, must provide a military assistance to Armenia.

The Ambassador also noted that Turkey is trying to de-stabilize the Caucasian region following similar acts in Syria, Iraq, Libya and the Middle East.
