Former Police Chief of Yerevan killed in gas explosion in Russia

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. Former Yerevan Police Chief Major General Ashot Karapetyan has been killed in a gas explosion in Russia. The initial reports do not indicate possible foul play, but this information must yet be confirmed.

The Armenian foreign ministry confirmed that Karapetyan, 49, has died, but did not elaborate.

“According to preliminary information the report is true,” MFA spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan said.

Other details weren’t immediately available.
