Pashinyan meets with Armenian community representatives in Venice

VENICE, NOVEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and the Armenian people should not agree to be in the backdrops of the world science and education. It’s necessary to have a competitive science and education, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the meeting with the clergymen of the Mekhitarist Congregation and the Armenian community representatives in Venice, Armenpress correspondent reports.

“The role of the Mekhitarist Congregation is invaluable, it has a huge scientific heritage and has become a scientific temple. The program of the political force that I represent is based on the preservation and development of the identity. I want to state that in fact, under bright slogans we very often damage our identity and lose our visions on the future. I consider the mission of our government that we recognize ourselves and appreciate our potential. I am convinced that there are yet many materials to study in the Mekhitarist Congregation. And they can be under the spotlight of the Armenian scientific circles”, Pashinyan said.

He stated that during his working visits he mainly includes the meeting with the Armenian community. The PM said the government has set a task to replace the division with pan-Armenianism. Pashinyan thinks that Armenia will be stronger if presented not only as a representative of the Armenian citizens, but also that of all Armenians.

“Armenia is the state of the Armenian people. Every Armenian, no matter he/she lives in Armenia or not, should live with Armenia. During the revolution the support of all Armenians was great. During those days I was receiving a lot of letters about different support events organized in Mexico, Russia, Uruguay, Central Asia. And this was not just a letter, but was a pan-Armenian process. Today that situation has not changed”, the Armenian PM added.

He emphasized that any government should have a national agenda. According to him, their current national agenda doesn’t coincide with the visions of several circles because under that formulation some of those circles have established corruption rules in Armenia over the years. “Today we face a problem of professionalism in many spheres. And so we need to solve these issues. Science and education are very important for our identity. We should not agree to be in the backyards of the world education and science”, the Armenian PM stated.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan arrived in Italy on an official visit on November 20. He started his trip from Venice. The PM visited the Mekhitarist Congregation is the St. Lazarus Island, got acquainted with the situation there following the recent powerful flood that hit the city.
