Cabinet approves CoE Convention on protecting children from sexual abuse

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. The Cabinet has approved the bill on ratifying the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.

At today’s Cabinet meeting it was decided that the government will apply to the Constitutional Court to determine the conformity of the convention’s obligations to the Armenian Constitution , and in the event of a positive ruling the bill will be presented to parliament for ratification.

The Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse was signed in 2007 in Lanzarote, Spain and came into effect from July 1, 2010.
