After recognizing Armenian Genocide, U.S. House adopts Turkey sanctions

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, ARMENPRESS. Shortly after voting to recognize the Armenian Genocide, US House of Representatives lawmakers from both parties also overwhelmingly backed legislation calling on Trump to impose sanctions on Turkey over its offensive in northern Syria.

The legislation passed by 03-16.

"These sanctions are specifically designed to target the Turkish officials and institutions responsible for the bloodshed in Syria without senselessly hurting the Turkish people," said Representative Eliot Engel, the Democratic chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
