YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. The 12-month inflation (August 2019 compared to August 2018) in Armenia’s consumer market comprised 0.6%, and in August compared to July 0.4% deflation was registered.
The Statistical Committee published the consumer price changes in Armenia in August 2019.
During a one-year period deflation was registered in food products and non-alcoholic drinks (-0.3%), as well as in communication (-0.1%), holiday and cultural areas (-1.1%).
4.5% inflation was recorded in alcoholic drinks, tobacco products in August 2019 compared to August 2018, as well as 8.6% inflation in clothing and shoes.
The average monthly decrease of consumer prices in January-August 2019 comprised 0.3% (compared to the 0.2% decline in the same period of the previous year).
In all towns of the Republic the consumer prices decreased by 0.6-0.3% in August 2019 compared to July.
The highest deflation rates were recorded in Gyumri, Vanadzor and Gavar towns.
In Yerevan the level of consumer prices decreased by 0.4%.
