Peaceful settlement of NK conflict is Armenia’s key priority – senior lawmaker

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS. Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan received on January 31 Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote and Doctor of Geopolitical Sciences Frédéric Encel, ARMENPRESS was informed from the press service of the parliament of Armenia.

Greeting the guests at the parliament, Ruben Rubinyan hoped that the parliamentary cooperation with the representatives of the international expert community will become more regular and productive.

During the meeting the sides referred to the regional developments and a number of geopolitical developments.

Particularly, speaking about Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Rubinyan noted that the peaceful settlement of the conflict is the key priority for Armenia. He highlighted peaceful negotiations in the context of the right of the people of Artsakh to express their free will.

The Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations highlighted the existence of a constructive atmosphere in the negotiation process, assessing inadmissible the use of hate speech at a state level.

The sides also referred to the reform policy of the post-revolutionary government. Rubinyan noted that the Government spares no efforts to carry out an economic revolution, as well as implement democratic reforms.

The sides also referred to the issue of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, highlighting the role of Armenia on the international arena for preventing genocides.

The sides highlighted the importance of fostering relations between the parliaments of Armenia and France, as well as cooperation in international institutions.
