National Police Chief sacks provincial, city commissioners after fatal shootout in Armenian town

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS. Police Chief of Armenia Colonel Valeriy Osipyan has sacked the police comissioners of Kotayk Province andthe town of Abovyan.
The national police force said on Facebook that “personnel shifts in police are constant processes”, and are aimed at increasing efficiency of the law enforcement activities.
However, police said that this particular dismissal is also connected with the recent fatal shootout in the town of Abovyan (Kotayk).
1 man was killed and 7 others were wounded in a shootout outside a restaurant earlier on January 29 in Abovyan.
The Investigative Committee is currently probing the incident. Several people have been arrested.
