Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee chief meets with US Ambassador

Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee Artur Nahapetyan held a meeting with the delegation of US Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien. The United States Ambassador’s delegation included Zachary Barter, Director of the U.S. Embassy Yerevan's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and Kristina Afoyan, Director of the INL Criminal Justice Reforms project, the Anti-Corruption Committee said in a readout.
Nahapetyan lauded the US support in the direction of the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Committee and thanked the American partners for the close cooperation in combatting corruption, including for active engagement in the process of involving highly-trained staffers and modern equipment for the agency.
The Chairman especially highlighted the INL support for capacity building and perfection of the professional skills of officers of the committee.
Nahapetyan stated that corruption crimes are of transnational nature and underscored the importance of international cooperation in this regard, including in legal mutual support.
US Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien thanked the new Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee for the warm reception and emphasized that the American side highly values the productive partnership that has been developed with the Anti-Corruption Committee.
Nahapetyan expressed hope for expansion of the directions and areas of cooperation with the US Embassy that would ensure a new level of bilateral partnership.
