Armenian and Russian troops hold joint parade in Gyumri

GYUMRI, MAY 9, ARMENPRESS. Gyumri’s ‘Mother Armenia’ memorial complex as always was crowded on May 9, reports Armenpress.
The representatives of the Governorate and the City Hall paid a tribute to the memory of the heroes fallen at the Great Patriotic War and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame.
Like the previous years, this year as well the event was attended by the war veterans. Governor of Shirak province Hovsep Simonyan congratulated the event participants.
“I warmly congratulate all of us on the Victory and Peace Day. The month of May became a symbol of victories, heroic deeds, unity in the history of the Armenian people. The Victory Day has a double meaning for us as we celebrate not only the Great Victory Day against fascism, but also another important event, the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Shushi”, Hovsep Simonyan said, wishing good health, happiness and peace to the war veterans.
Mayor of Gyumri Samvel Balasanyan also congratulated the event participants. Thereafter, the Armenian Armed Forces and Gyumri’s 102nd Russian military base troops hold a joint parade.
