Armenian Genocide commemoration event held in Romania’s Gheorgheni

BUCHAREST, MAY 4, ARMENPRESS. The 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was commemorated in the Armenian Catholic Church of Gheorgheni, Harghita County, Romania.
Vice –President of Harghita’s County Board Barti Tihamér, Gheorgheni Mayor Zoltan Nagin, director of the ethnography museum Tibor Chergon, president of the Hungary-Armenian Union of Transylvania Atila Puskas, president of the Catholic Armenian Union of Gheorgheni Laslo Kulchar and Parish Council Chairman Gula Buslig attended the event.
Pastor of the Armenian Catholic Church Hunor Gal delivered remarks, followed by the presentation of the history of Armenian Genocide.
Wreaths were laid at the Armenian Genocide memorial outside the church.
Gheorgheni and Armenia’s Alaverdi are sister cities. Armenians have settled in the Romanian town back in the 17th century.
