YEREVAN, JANUARY 28, ARMENPRESS. Serving in the Armenian Army is a great honor for anyone, Larisa Alaverdyan, co-chair of the “Against Legal Arbitrariness” NGO told ARMENPRESS.
“I congratulate the servicemen of the Armenian Army, those who have served and those who are yet to serve. The Armenian Army is the guarantee of our country’s eternity. I wish our Army to grow stronger each day”, Alaverdyan said.
According to her, the Armenian Army is an accomplished structure, which has passed a path full of courageous acts and heroism. “Not only the heroism of the 90s, which returned us our lands, but also the heroic battle of our young soldiers during the April War. The new generation demonstrated a new quality and proved that regardless the problems in the state, they are ready to go to the end, without sparing their lives”, Alaverdyan said.
Recalling the April War, Alaverdyan particularly said: “I’ve had the honor to see the faces of the men who were fighting in Talish. That’s when I got convinced that the Armenian people have nothing to be concerned about”.
January 28 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Army. On January 28, 1992, the Government adopted a historic decision “On the Defense Ministry of Armenia”, heralding the formation of the Armenian Army. The first draft took place in May of 1992.
