Azerbaijani corruption scheme in PACE: MP Zohrabyan says European lawmakers might express distrust to Agramunt

YEREVAN, JANUARY 12, ARMENPRESS. Naria Zohrabyan, leader of the PAP faction in Armenia’s Parliament and member of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assemblyof the Council of Europe (PACE)says in her opinion the announcement of 30 civil society representatives of Azerbaijan – which urged PACE to suspend the right to vote of Azerbaijan’s delegation, won’t have any effect.

According to her, numerous announcements were made prior to this incident also, aimed to the Council of Europe, but its leadership hadn’t taken it into consideration.

“That same corruption scandal also mentions PACE President Pedro Agramunt’s name. The prosecution of Milan initiated a criminal case on the involvement of Luca Volonte, leader of the European Democratic Party’s faction, in the corruption scandal, and he agreed to cooperate and has given Agramunt’s name. According to our credible information, Volonte also mentioned Jordi Xuclà iCosta’s name, leader of the Liberal Democrat group, in his testimony, meaning the entire corruption scheme of the Azerbaijani leadership has been revealed. Moreover, not only the civil society of Azerbaijan, but also according to our information numerous European lawmakers are going to raise the issue of expressing distrust to Agramunt in the upcoming January sitting. I think we will witness some developments during this sitting”, Zohrabyan told ARMENPRESS.
