President of the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities to visit Armenia

President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Marc Cools, will pay an official visit to Armenia on May 26–27, the Council of Europe said in a statement.
Mr. Cools will take part in a high-level panel discussion at the Yerevan Dialogue conference. As part of the event, he will address the role of local and regional authorities as a cornerstone of European democracy and emphasize their importance in the context of the New Democratic Pact for Europe.
During his visit, Mr. Cools is scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, and the Mayor of Yerevan.
The meetings will focus on the development of a new law on local self-government, the promotion of democratic innovations, and ways to restore trust in democracy.
